How to Decorate Your Kid’s Room

Posted on May 11 2016

As a little girl I loved pigs (still do). This was a fact my whole family knew. As a result I go a lot of pig toys and crafts. My top request was sticker. They covered the wall above my bed. None of them were more than an inch big. It was simple, but it brought me lots of joy and made me feel at home. It is these little things that make kids feel at home, yet in their own world.

She thinks she is a princess? Her room can be her cloud castle wall decal. He likes dinosaurs? Things can get prehistoric fast. It may be a phase, but in their world, is it everything they want to be. Play along; let them express themselves with their own ideas of what the world should look like. Check out this dino set kids wall decal.

Just three quick ideas can make your child feel right at home:

  1. Try affixing stars and a moon on your child’s ceiling or whimsical cityscape around the edge of the room. This will get them excited about turning out the lights at night.
  1. Your kids will be far more willing to help clean their own mess if you keep things at their height. Closet storage, benches and coat racks will all be used more often if kids can get to them easily.
  1. Choose a soothing wall color, like lavender, or light blue that gives a room an ease-into-sleep feel.
  1. Let them pick what they want their room to look like. Show them wall decals and call them temporary wall tattoos and let your kid have fun decorating their room in a way you know you won’t have to fix later.
